Description:
Ajilon
Communications is seeking experienced Cable Splicers to work on various
copper cable splicing projects throughout southern Ontario on behalf of
our client, one of North America’s largest providers to the wireline and
wireless broadband market.
Main Responsibilities:
-
Inspecting, installing, splicing, testing, repairing and maintaining
copper cable – buried and aerial
-
Providing
excellent customer service – answer customer queries/provide
information regarding issue(s), status, applicable charges, etc.

Administrative
functions – track and submit status of job; accurately record and
submit time and expense reports
-
Maintaining work
vehicle, tools and equipment

Qualifications:
"Must
Have":
-
Experience in
inspecting, installing, splicing, testing, repairing and maintaining
copper cable – buried and aerial (underground experience would be
considered a definite asset)
-
Able to interpret
and revise cable plans accordingly
-
Able to use cable
splicing and lineman tools and related testing equipment, ground power
equipment, pressure equipment, etc.
-
Legally entitled
to work in Canada (Canadian citizen, landed immigrant)
-
Strong
communication/comprehension/listening skills
-
Computer literate;
able to learn new systems quickly
-
Must possess a
valid driver’s license with clean driving record – less than 4 demerit
points (recent abstract must be provided if using a company vehicle)-
G1 licenses are not acceptable
-
Although the
majority of work will be scheduled during the day, we are looking for
individuals who are flexible to work rotating shifts, weekends, and
statutory holidays with a willingness to work past shift/pick up
additional work as required
-
Able to
handle physical aspects of position – bending, standing, climbing,
lifting
-
Able to work
outside in varying weather conditions
-
Able to climb
ladders/pole and work at elevated heights
-
Able to work in
confined spaces
-
Must possess
normal colour vision (due to the use of colour-coded wires)
-
Able to work with
little or no direct supervision
"Nice
to Have":
-
Certifications
(i.e. RCDD, NORDX, HellermanTyton, etc.) would be considered a
definite asset
-
Possessing own
truck and tools is a definite asset but not mandatory for the position
